The Steenberg Golf Club's annual Cadiz Steenberg Classic Golf Tournament has over the past 10 years become one of the top golfing events on the Cape Town calendar with its week-long programme of creatively themed events. This year the tournament takes place from 30 October until 5 November. As always, the week of activity will culminate in the Saturday Cadiz Steenberg Classic - an exclusive Four Ball Alliance, which is open to members of the club only, followed by the glamorous Steenberg Cadiz Gala Function on Saturday evening (5 November).
The Cadiz Steenberg Classic is a very successful fundraising endeavour, and is the only one of its kind where 100% of the funds raised go directly to the chosen beneficiaries. Last year more than half a million Rand was donated to the Westlake Community Centre; TEARS (the Emma Animal Rescue Society); SARDA (South African Riding for the disabled="disabled" Association); the Haemophilia Foundation; and the Steenberg Clinic & Caddy Programme; all of which will again benefit from the tournament this year.

Steenberg Vineyards partners with the Steenberg Golf Club each year, and this year will participate in a raffle to raise more funds, selling tickets from the cellar door at the Steenberg Winery. A Champagne Breakfast is being hosted for the Sponsors Invitational Classic on Friday 4 November, where the Steenberg 1682 Chardonnay MCC and Steenberg 1682 Pinot Noir MCC will add a delicious sparkle.

The Steenberg Vineyards team will also be taking full advantage of the opportunity to improve their swing, and will enter two four balls in the tournament, hosted by Winemaker JD Pretorius and Financial Manager, Laurie White.

Says CEO of the Steenberg Golf Estate, Gary Lees: "The Cadiz Steenberg Classic is the highlight on Steenberg's golfing calendar. Its primary role is to raise money for local charities, while at the same time providing our members and guests with a memorable week-long golfing experience. We started out in 2000 with the intention of making a difference in the lives of people in our local community. Through the years the concept has remained the same, but the strategic approach in terms of how we achieve our goal has steadily evolved. We believe in long term relationships with our beneficiaries with the aim of creating a steady source of funding that allows us to make a real and positive impact.

"In essence the entire event is based on an ethos of 'giving back'. It's also quite remarkable that a week-long event is year on year 'sold out' well before the event even kicks off, which bears testimony to the popular, and workable model that has been created. Equally heart warming is to look back and see the tremendous passion and commitment of the entire Steenberg team, who are the driving force behind the logistics of the event. Add to that the relentless support of our sponsors, members and guests, and you have the perfect cocktail for success!"

With themed golfing days during the Cadiz Steenberg Classic Golf Tournament ranging from Classic Parent Child Day and Seniors Day, to Pro-Am Day, as well as Mens' and Ladies' Classic Days, this tournament is designed for everyone from championship to junior level who will relish the opportunity to enjoy the immaculate greens of the Steenberg Golf Course.

Bookings for this year's event are now closed.
