Sandton Sun hotel
Sandton Sun hotel takes the lead in foodie circles once again, as it receives international recognition from world acclaimed Wine Spectator magazine by winning an Award of Excellence for Vin mmx's wine list this month.
Vin mmx is the hotel’s intimate, grillroom style restaurant which in only its first year of operation has already achieved numerous accolades for its style and elegance.

Regarded globally as the most influential wine publication, with close to 3 million monthly subscribers, this US based publisher encourages restaurants worldwide to submit their wine lists annually to be judged by leading wine experts, recognising the best dining venues and wine standards.

To qualify for an award, the list must present complete, accurate wine information. It must include vintages and appellations for all selections, including wines available by the glass. The overall presentation and appearance of the list is also taken into consideration.

Typically to win such an award, a wine list must have at least 100 wines available to patrons. Describing the choice offered by Vin mmx, General Manager Andrew Davidson said “Our policy since opening the restaurant last year has been to offer a diverse and changing menu that appeals to both international and local visitors. Our wide range of wines on offer completes this tantalizing overall dining experience.”

Vin mmx was the only restaurant in Johannesburg this year to win an Award of Excellence, and one of eight total South African winners across the country, placing the restaurant amongst the finest in the world. They were also the first hotel within the Southern Sun group to win this prestigious award.
