Lemberg was established in 1978 by celebrated winemaker Janey Muller and were known for Sauvignon blanc, Harslevelu and once the smallest cellar in South Africa in the 1980s. Today the old Sauvignon blanc vines still grow on the estate and we made a Sauvignon blanc from naturally dried grapes from these old vines which produced intense freshness and complexity in the wines, currently aging in older bigger French oak barrels. Also a first is a single cultivar Syrah and a Pinot noir all grown on the estate and made in a minimalistic style to reflect the soils they grow in. Current Vintages in bottle includes a Pinotage and Pinot noir Vineyard blend from the 2009 vintage, a 2010 Sauvignon blanc, a 2011 Syrah blanc de noir with only 11.5% alcohol and also a 2010 Pinotage. In August we will be planting half a hectare of Viognier and in 2012 we will be re-introducing Harslevelu to the farm with 1 200 Vines specially grafted for Lemberg. At the end of 2011 we will bottle a Lemberg Viognier and also our premium Pinotage from the 2010 Vintage. Our tasting room is open during the week from 9h00 till 17h00 and we also provide cheese platters on request. A small rowing boat is also available on reservation for sunset cruises on our dam next to one of the three self-catering quest houses sleeping 2, 4 and 6 people respectively. Our barrel cellar and tasting room serves as a function venue as well and seat 40 guests, ideal for small weddings and group lunches or dinners. We are also open for tasting on Saturdays from 10h00 till 15h00. Come and visit us on your next trip to the beautiful valley of Tulbagh and in the meantime follow us on Twitter.
