Internationally renowned Peter Gottgens, appointed General Manager of Asara Hotel & Wine Estate

Asara Wine Estate and Hotel has appointed South African-born Peter Gottgens as its new General Manager. Gottgens better known as an international celebrity chef will be responsible for the property including marketing, management and operations of the 36-roomed hotel.
This will also include the upgraded Raphael’s restaurant and expanding the conference facilities.

A veteran chef, who has cooked for Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton, the Queen, Tony Blair and Elton John; Gottgens brings with him vast experience and an eye for detail and a desire to make this property one the best. Gottgens comes from a family of well-known Hoteliers, his father being the 1st ever registered hotelier in South Africa and the manager of the Edward Hotel in Durban during its heyday in the 50’s and 60’s.

Peter’s accomplishments in 2009/10 include the Glenfiddich Food Personality of the Year Award, Scottish Hospitality Entrepreneur of the year, Scottish Hotel Restaurant of the year, and Top Hotels of the Year awards. Peter has been Michelin Guide listed for more than 10 years and has appeared in more than 100 TV shows including Masterchef and Melting Pots.
