The Freedom Hill Country Restaurant is the brain child of three dynamic young men with a wealth of experience in the wine and restaurant industries.
Celebrated chef Adrian Buchanan is no newcomer to the food scene and boasts more than 14 years of fine dining experience. Some of Adrian's accolades include: second place in the Chef of the Year competition in 2001, he was named on the Top Billing Top Ten Restaurants list and he has been a guest chef on Top Billing twice. Adrian also has extensive banqueting knowledge and is passionate about wine.

Pieter van Straaten, the charismatic second partner, brings his excellent managerial skills to the party, while third partner Ryan Bredenkamp is a seasoned hand in the hospitality industry, and will take care of guest relations. The three partners joined forces to create an exciting menu of classic, modern food using locally sourced produce. Their aim is to bring a fresh, modern interpretation to the old-fashioned concept of hospitality at a fair price.

The Freedom Hill Country Restaurant overlooks the picturesque valley were Mr. Mandela took his first steps to freedom and is located on the R301, the same road on which the Pearl Valley Golf Course is situated, less than an hour from Cape Town.

"Freedom Hill Country Restaurant is an owner driven restaurant. We promise a personal touch to every food and wine experience. The restaurant stands for excellence in food and service quality. We believe in using fresh, local produce and our daily menu will change according to the seasons and availability of ingredients. Furthermore we want our patrons to become regulars, therefore food & wine prices are suited to the local market, guaranteeing an affordable fine dining experience," says Adrian.

In addition to the menu on offer, mouth watering tapas will be served and guests are encouraged to spend some time on the patio admiring the incredible view across the Berg River Valley towards the majestic Simonsberg Mountain, lending itself perfectly to afternoon tea or drinks. The restaurant is child friendly and also features a helicopter landing pad for visitors who would prefer to fly in.

The 50 seater restaurant is open daily from Tuesday - Sunday for lunch and Wednesday - Saturday for dinner. Private functions can be booked and guests can also be treated to the Freedom Hill wines on offer from the tasting room adjacent to the restaurant.
