One-of-a-kind, timeless and sophisticated, The Robertson Small Hotel will inarguably be the destination everyone will be talking about.
A Console for the Culinary Soul, Chef Patron, Reuben Riffel, launches Reuben's at The Robertson Small Hotel

One-of-a-kind, timeless and sophisticated, The Robertson Small Hotel opened its doors on August 1st to be inarguably be the destination everyone will be talking about. With ten spacious luxury en-suite bedrooms, artistic décor, manicured gardens and shimmering pools; the understated elegance of this boutique Hotel is refreshingly unique. Put the acclaimed Reuben Riffel in the kitchen, have him open a restaurant and stock a state-of-the-art cellar with the finest local wines, add haute cuisine to the mix, set this utopia, where peace pervades, along the increasingly popular Route 62, and one has a recipe for success.

The design of the exquisite boutique Hotel personifies a harmonious journey from old to new with the classical old-world charm, elegance and graciousness of the centennial Victorian Manor House, which houses the intimate Bar as well as the ultra-modern, temperature-controlled Cellar and, of course, Reuben's at The Robertson Small Hotel, which signifies the meeting of old and new, elegant and contemporary. The Stables are casual-contemporary in design while the Poolside Suites are clean, crisp and stylish.

Every one of the ten spacious Robertson Small Hotel suites is a haven of optimal comfort. Rooms are furnished with king-size, extra-length beds - fitted with exquisite lush linen - and are fully-equipped with all the comforts and technological needs of the trendy traveller or businessman.

Reuben's at The Robertson Small Hotel

The story of Reuben Riffel reads like a fairytale which begins with this hometown boy starting a career in his father's construction company, and unravels to unveil a sequence of successive honours heaped upon the young man. Within months of opening Reuben's in Franschhoek, Reuben was dubbed 'Chef of the Year', and the establishment awarded 'Restaurant of the Year'! He has authored Reuben Cooks: Food is Time Travel and is now owner of Reuben's at The Robertson Small Hotel...and this in the same year as he and lovely wife Maryke are to have their first child!

With Reuben being joined by Executive Chef, Aviv Liebenberg (who trained under Reuben and hails from Bouillabaisse) and Pastry Chef, Christien van der Westhuizen (of Le Quartier Français); Reuben's at The Robertson Small Hotel is bound to be an epicurean's ecstasy. The menu offers patrons a myriad of dishes to suit every palate and, as far as possible, uses natural and seasonal produce, showing a progression towards organic. There are also innovations like duck eggs, sourced locally, as an alternative to chicken eggs, for example.

These diverse dishes are accompanied by an extensive wine-list to cater for all tastes, served in Riedel glasses.

The Hotel is ably managed by young, trendy and multi-talented couple, Riaan and Stefané Kruger (of Royal Madikwe fame) whose reputation in the hospitality industry precedes them. With this pedigree in management, one can rest assured that staff will be expertly trained and wholly attentive.

The unparalleled country luxury of The Robertson Small Hotel makes this destination unique and desirable.

The Robertson Small Hotel

The Robertson Small Hotel is what young, innovative Designer and Project Manager, Nica Maree, encapsulates as a 'family of three buildings', namely the Manor House (which, originally called Zandvliet, is a National Monument built in 1909); Stables and Poolside Suites.

The Robertson Wine Valley

90 minutes from Cape Town, this boutique Hotel is strategically placed in the heart of the Valley, in the quaint town of Robertson. One of the most highly desirable wine tourism experiences, with a wide diversity of activities on offer, and four well-attended annual Festivals, the Robertson Wine Valley is imminently attractive to the modern traveller.
