A weekend of fine wine and gourmet dining will be held at the Palms Wilderness Retreat in Wilderness on the Garden Route, from July 31 to August 2. The event, to be hosted by John Loubser, cellar master and general manager at the Steenberg Wine Estate, will include accommodation and breakfast, wine tastings and gourmet dinners prepared by chef, Lexa Timothy. Partnering with Vicky Nel of Palms Wilderness Retreat, Loubser will provide guests with insights into Steenberg Vineyards, the art of wine making and wine selection, as well as food and wine pairing. Free time can be spent exploring the gardens and the village of Wilderness with its beach and lagoon. Golf is also an option with several golf courses nearby. Each guest will receive a signed copy of Tortoises & Tumbleweeds, a book by food and wine expert, author and food guru, Lannice Snyman. Guests will check in 14h00 onward on Friday 31 July 2009. Meet your hosts for pre-dinner drinks followed by a gourmet dinner in the Palms Wilderness Restaurant accompanied by Steenberg Wines. Saturday morning will start off with a champagne breakfast followed by an optional light hike in the National Park with light snacks and Steenberg Wines. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure followed by pre-dinner drinks and a gourmet dinner accompanied by Steenberg Wines. On Sunday morning we'll braai breakfast (weather permitting) before checking out.
