Diemersfontein
June at Diemersfontein brings about a sense of celebration, offering several opportunities to pour a glass of wine and toast to everything that bring us together.

It’s well and truly winter here in the Wellington valley, turning our attention toward the warmth of a crackling fire in the hearth, the comfort of family gatherings, and the rich, comforting flavours that define this time of year. This month brings about a distinct sense of celebration on Diemersfontein Wine Estate, offering several opportunities to pour a generous glass of wine and toast to the people and traditions that bring us together.

We begin by honouring a grape variety that has found a true spiritual home in South African soils. Saturday, 13 June 2026 marks Drink Chenin Blanc Day; a moment to celebrate the incredible versatility and vibrant character of this remarkable cultivar. Though we love the crisp Diemersfontein Chenin Blanc in our core range, our pride and joy is our Diemersfontein The Clockmaker Old Vine Chenin Blanc.

Expressly crafted to honour Cesare Zanardi, an Italian prisoner of war who spent time on our estate in the 1940’s, this showcase of terroir is made from vines planted under the guidance of Richard Sonnenberg in 1986. The brilliant influences and unique growing conditions of this South-West facing slope offer a rich, beautifully balanced profile. It serves as the ideal prelude to a month deeply rooted in appreciation for those who guide and inspire us.

The celebration of family continues as we approach Father’s Day on Sunday 21 June 2026. This annual occasion invites us to slow down and show our gratitude for the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who shape our lives. We believe the finest gifts are those centred around shared experiences and exceptional food; a sentiment brought to life across our estate this year with two distinct dining experiences tailored for the occasion.

The month’s festivities will draw to a wonderfully vibrant close on Friday the 26th of June as we celebrate International Rosé Day. With the launch of the 2026 vintage of our Diemersfontein Rosé scheduled for early this month, you’ll be able to enjoy the first of our new vintage releases on this commemorative day.

While many associate pink hues exclusively with the height of summer, our fine Saignée-style Rosé carries a crisp sophistication that cuts through the richness of comforting winter dishes, bringing a welcome splash of berries and bright energy to the cooler days. It is a delightful, slightly unconventional way to wrap up a month dedicated to excellent flavour, good company, and the enduring warmth of family.

We look forward to welcoming you to the estate soon to share in these moments together.

ASH at Diemersfontein: A feast of braai flavour

We are super excited to welcome ASH at Diemersfontein, our brand-new restaurant addition to our estate.

ASH is the brainchild of Ashley Dokter-Mosotho, who was a top 4 finalist on Kokkedoor Vuur & Vlam, an award winning cooking reality show.

The name of this new braai-restaurant at Diemersfontein was quite aptly chosen: both an abbreviation of Ashley’s name, and a nod to the remnants left behind once the fire goes out at the end of the day.

Ashley is extremely passionate about braai. He is as enthralled by cooking in this truly South African style, as he is about the sense of camaraderie and togetherness that gathers in the glow of the flames. That is why the majority of the menu at ASH, besides being prepared on the fire, is also intended to nurture a sense of togetherness through sharing plates.

From roosterkoek and superb steaks to sharing plankies and kiddies braai options, a selection of mouthwatering flavours await.

For more information, visit our website at diemersfontein.co.za, and keep an eye on our social media for an update about the launch of ASH at Diemersfontein.

Double the flavour this Father's Day at Diemersfontein

In our ongoing commitment to bring you the best Diemersfontein experience possible, our estate is now home to two incredible restaurants, giving you twice the reason to visit and celebrate the special men in your life.

For those seeking a hearty, generous feast, SMUL Restaurant is hosting a dedicated Father’s Day Lunch at R395 per person, featuring a menu crafted to satisfy robust winter appetites. Alternatively, guests looking for a contemporary, braai-style lunch can gather at the brand new restaurant on our estate, ASH at Diemersfontein, where a curated sharing menu will be available. Both restaurants boast a welcoming atmosphere to raise a glass to the men of the moment, ensuring that dad is thoroughly well-fed and well-loved.

So, seeing as we’re taking care of the cooking and the dishes, the only challenge you face is to choose the ideal setting for your celebratory lunch…

Whether he’s the patriarch of the family, a new dad, or that special father figure in your life; Diemersfontein is the ideal destination for your Father’s Day feast!
