Hospitality has always been a natural extension of our winemaking philosophy at Kleine Zalze Wines – authentic, generous, and deeply rooted in a sense of place.
What's new in the Kleine Zalze Restaurant
At the Kleine Zalze Restaurant, led by acclaimed chef Nic van Wyk, we offer a refined yet relaxed dining experience that celebrates honest, timeless cooking. Our Taste.Explore.Relax menu invites you to enjoy each dish your way – whether shared tapas-style, as lighter fare, or as a traditional main course.
You’ve loved joining us for long, leisurely lunches, and now there’s even more to look forward to. From Friday, 31 October 2025, we’re extending our hospitality into the evening with Friday night dinners, available from 18h00 to 10h00  (kitchen closes at 21h00, restaurant at 22h00).
To celebrate our first Friday dinner, we’re offering guests a complimentary glass of one of our newly released Cellar Selection wines. Choose between the elegant Pinot Grigio or the vibrant Cinsault to enjoy with your meal.

What's new in the tasting room

And what’s wine without a bite? Pair your tasting with one of our signature sharing platters, crafted by Chef Nic van Wyk, for the perfect balance of flavour and indulgence.
Now that summer is here and the days feel longer and lighter, we’re extending our hours so you can linger a little longer. The Tasting Room now stays open until 19h00, Monday to Saturday (last orders for tastings and platters by 18h30) and until 18h00 on Sunday (last orders by 17h30).
We’ve also refreshed our wine experiences to offer an even more diverse and engaging tasting journey. Among the highlights are two exciting new options:

Award season is here – and Kleine Zalze is winning big
Veritas Awards
We’re thrilled to share that Kleine Zalze has once again proven its excellence at the Veritas Awards, South Africa’s most prestigious wine competition.
Our cellar proudly walked away with two Double Gold and two Gold medals, confirming our commitment to quality across styles – particularly in Cap Classique and Cabernet Sauvignon, the cornerstones of our winemaking philosophy.
Double gold winners
- Kleine Zalze Vintage Brut Cap Classique 2019
- Kleine Zalze Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Gold winners
- Family Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2023
- Vineyard Selection Chenin Blanc 2024
Our cellarmaster RJ Botha says the recognition is "a reflection of our sustained commitment to excellence in every bottle." The 2019 Vintage Brut Cap Classique showcases precision, finesse, and age-worthy elegance, while the 2020 Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the power and elegance of Stellenbosch terroir.
“These wines represent who we are,” says RJ. “To see them earn top honours at Veritas – judged by respected local and international experts – is incredibly rewarding.”
Sauvignon Blanc SA Top 10
Hot on the heels of our recent Veritas Awards success, we’re thrilled to share more exciting news – the Kleine Zalze Family Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2023, which also received an outstanding 5-star rating in the 2025 Platter’s Guide, has been named one of the Top 10 wines in this year’s FNB Sauvignon Blanc SA Awards, South Africa’s leading competition for the country’s flagship white variety.
Selected from 167 entries, this recognition highlights our pursuit of depth and complexity in Sauvignon Blanc, achieved through thoughtful barrel maturation and grapes from premium cool-climate sites in Durbanville and Darling.
RJ says the award affirms the growing appreciation for wooded Sauvignon Blancs that go beyond the traditional tropical and grassy profile. “We used more oak in the 2023 vintage than in 2022,” says RJ. “The result is a wine with elegance, sophistication, and structure – proving Sauvignon Blanc’s ability to stand proudly among the world’s great white wines.”
With 90% of the wine barrel-fermented and aged for nine months in wood, and the remaining 10% matured in concrete egg and stainless steel, the 2023 vintage showcases the best of both technique and terroir.
As RJ concludes: “We’re proud to see wooded styles like ours being recognised. It’s a new chapter for Sauvignon Blanc in South Africa – and we’re excited to be part of it.”

Thank you for supporting us on this journey of excellence – here’s to more exceptional vintages ahead!
