Exceptional Results in the Tim Atkin MW South Africa 2026 Report
We at Jordan Wine Estate are delighted to share an outstanding set of results from the Tim Atkin MW South Africa Special Report 2026, with 14 Jordan wines scoring 92 points or higher, including an exceptional 98 points for Jordan Sophia 2022. We are especially proud that our Jordan Dry Rosé 2025 was also named Best Value Rosé of the Year, recognising both its quality and exceptional value.
Tim Atkin MW’s annual South Africa Special Report is one of the most comprehensive assessments of the country’s wine industry, bringing together extensive tasting, vineyard visits and insights into the people and places shaping South African wine. The report offers an in-depth look at the diversity, quality and evolution of the Cape’s wine landscape, making these scores a meaningful recognition of the wines and vineyards behind them.
For Jordan, these results are particularly rewarding as they reflect our continued focus on expressing site, variety and vintage across our range — from the mineral character of Assyrtiko and the precision of our Chardonnays to the depth of our Cabernet Sauvignon and the individuality of our Timepiece wines.

New vintages, fresh expressions
We’re excited to introduce four new vintage releases from Jordan Wine Estate, each offering a distinct expression of our Stellenbosch vineyards. From heritage vines and classic Cabernet Sauvignon to pioneering Assyrtiko and our acclaimed Timepiece Sauvignon Blanc, these wines showcase our continued exploration of site, variety and winemaking.
A new vintage of one of our most distinctive Timepiece wines. Sourced from mature Sauvignon Blanc vines on a cooler, south-facing site, this wine reflects the complexity that comes from carefully selected vineyard parcels. The 2025 vintage was awarded an impressive 95 points by Tim Atkin MW, making it one of the standout releases in this year’s results.
The latest addition to the Timepiece collection, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon comes from mature estate vines and reflects the transparency and intensity of fruit that can come from older vineyards. Rich and layered, with dark fruit, malted chocolate, salted liquorice and a subtle mint freshness, it finishes with glossy tannins and remarkable length. The 2024 vintage also received 94 points from Tim Atkin MW.
Our latest vintage of this pioneering South African Assyrtiko is here. First planted at Jordan in 2019, Assyrtiko has found a remarkable home on our dry, north-facing Stellenbosch slopes. The 2026 vintage continues to showcase the variety’s naturally vibrant acidity and distinctive mineral character, while reflecting the unique conditions of the Jordan vineyard.
A Stellenbosch Cabernet with a story rooted deep beneath the vineyard. The Long Fuse takes its name from the granite boulders encountered when establishing the Cabernet vineyards, including one that required more than 300 charges to remove. The 2024 vintage brings together the character of Jordan’s mature Cabernet sites with a focus on elegance, structure, and longevity.

Some vines ask you to slow down and look a little closer. In a small section of Jordan’s Assyrtiko vineyard, the vines are trained into low, basket-like shapes using Kouloura, an ancient vine-training system from Santorini, Greece.
South Africa’s first Assyrtiko mother block was planted at Jordan in 2019, and today the estate has 6.59 hectares of the variety. While our vines grow in Stellenbosch rather than Santorini, the two share an important influence: the sea. Cool maritime breezes and morning mists contribute to Jordan’s distinctive meso-climate and help retain freshness in the grapes.
Kouloura was traditionally developed to protect vines and bunches from Santorini’s intense sun and strong winds. The canes are carefully woven into a basket, sheltering the fruit inside. At Jordan, only a small section is trained this way as it is an extremely labour-intensive, hands-on process.
For our vineyard team, however, it offers an opportunity to learn from centuries-old farming knowledge and explore how an ancient technique can work in our own landscape. It is a reminder that innovation does not always mean creating something new – sometimes it means looking back, understanding what worked, and finding a place for it in the future.
