Three winemakers with different personalities, individual strengths and one shared language: wine.
All three studied Viticulture and Oenology at Stellenbosch University before gaining experience in cellars both locally and abroad. Today, they bring that knowledge, curiosity and energy together in the Kleine Zalze cellar.
Hanri Ferreira, the clay queen
Known affectionately as the team’s “pot queen”, Hanri has developed a special connection with the large Italian clay amphorae used to mature some of Kleine Zalze’s most innovative wines.
She brings instinct, curiosity and a fearless approach to experimentation into the cellar – always searching for new ways to allow the vineyard and fruit to express themselves.
For Hanri, the simplest measure of a good wine remains the most important: it should be something people genuinely enjoy drinking.
Nataleé Botha, the Cap Classique queen
Nataleé is known for her special touch with sparkling wine. Her eye for detail, understanding of balance and appreciation for patience make her a natural guardian of the Kleine Zalze Cap Classique story.
She believes a successful wine is created when every element works in harmony – and that the greatest reward is sharing something delicious with the people around you.
Her words perfectly capture life inside the Kleine Zalze cellar: “We live in a bubble – a beautiful bubble filled with history.”
Carla van Wyk, the logistics boffin
Carla brings energy, organisation and a sharp logistical mind to the team. In a working cellar where timing, coordination and quick problem-solving are essential, she helps transform countless moving parts into one seamless process.
She thrives on the fact that no two days are the same. There is always something new to learn, another plan to make and another challenge for the team to solve together.
