For us, export has always been more than simply sending wine across borders. It is about sharing the story of our family, our Stellenbosch origin, and the character of the vineyards that overlook Table Bay from the slopes of the Bottelary Hills. Every bottle that leaves South Africa carries with it the same promise: honest, fruit-driven, beautifully balanced wines made to be enjoyed with good food, good company, and a sense of place.
Today, Friesland wines can be found in a growing collection of international markets. In the United Kingdom, our wines are available through specialist online wine merchants, giving UK wine lovers access to our Stellenbosch Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon, and flagship M-Klas Cabernet Sauvignon. In the Netherlands, where the name Friesland has its own special resonance, our wines have found a natural home among South African wine enthusiasts, with listings appearing both online and on restaurant wine menus.
Our wines have also travelled into Germany, Belgium and further east into Russia, where Friesland continues to represent the quality and value of Stellenbosch wine. In West Africa, we are proud to see Friesland reaching Ghana, while Kenya has become an exciting East African market for us, with growing interest in premium South African wine.
Across the Atlantic, Barbados & St. Lucia has become another special chapter in the Friesland story. Our wines have found a place in island settings where good wine, warm hospitality and memorable occasions come together beautifully. There is something deeply rewarding about seeing a wine grown on the slopes of Stellenbosch being enjoyed in the Caribbean.
One of our most exciting recent international milestones was a listing with Delta Air Lines, with Friesland served on routes over the United States and Europe. For a small family winery, seeing our wines enjoyed at 35 000 feet was a proud reminder that South African wine can travel exceptionally well – not only in bottle, but in reputation.
For Friesland, these international connections mean a great deal. They remind us that wine has a remarkable ability to travel – across oceans, cultures, conversations and occasions. Whether enjoyed with dinner in London, shared in the Netherlands or Belgium, poured in Ghana or Kenya, discovered in Barbados and St. Lucia, or served above the clouds, Friesland remains rooted in Stellenbosch while reaching further into the world.
Wherever you find us, the heart of the wine remains the same: family, Stellenbosch, and a deep love for crafting wines worth sharing.
