We began the month by celebrating Mother's Day, a special occasion dedicated to the remarkable women who nurture, inspire, and bring warmth to our lives.
One of the highlights of the month was seeing our winemaker, Hattingh de Villiers, represent Muratie at the annual Absa Charity Golf Day. This longstanding event brings together business leaders, wine producers, and community supporters in aid of worthy causes. We are proud to be part of initiatives that extend beyond wine and help make a positive impact.
For us, however, May would not be complete without one of our favourite events on the calendar, the Stoep Tasting in Graaff-Reinet. Year after year, this beloved festival reminds us why we keep returning to the heart of the Karoo. From exceptional food and warm hospitality to the unique charm of this historic small town, the Stoep Tasting offers an experience unlike any other. Sharing Muratie wines with enthusiasts from across the country while strolling between beautifully preserved homes and tasting venues is always a highlight.
Back home we were delighted to host our very first Muratie Wine Club Dinner at Barristers in Newlands. The evening brought together long-standing supporters, local members, and new friends who have recently joined the Muratie family. Guests enjoyed a curated menu paired with a selection of Muratie wines, creating an atmosphere of lively conversation, shared stories, and discovery around the table. We look forward to hosting many more gatherings like this in the future.

One of the most anticipated events on our winter calendar returns this July. Retro Rouge celebrates the rich flavours of the season with a showcase of red wines, comforting winter dishes, and a vibrant atmosphere. Expect roaring fires, delicious food, live entertainment, and an opportunity to discover and enjoy a range of exceptional wines from Muratie.
