The volume of wine imported into Belgium rose significantly in 2025 compared to the previous year, reaching 321.1m liters (+8.8%). In terms of value, however, the Belgian wine market saw a slight decrease of 0.3%, totaling €1.171bn in revenue. As a result, the average price for wine fell by 8.4% to €3.65 per liter. These figures were published on April 13, 2026, by the Spanish Wine Market Observatory (OIVE), based on data from Belgian customs authorities.
The decline in value was primarily driven by the bulk wine category, where revenue dropped by 11.6% to €50.7m. Volume fell simultaneously by 11.5% to 42.7m liters. The average price for imported bulk wine remained stable at €1.19 per liter (-0.1%).
In contrast, packaged wines—including sparkling wine and Bag-in-Box (BiB)—saw a significant volume increase of 12.8% to 278.3m liters, while the import value remained nearly stable (€1.121bn, +0.3%). Accordingly, the average price in this segment dropped notably to €4.03 per liter (-11.1%).
