Across South Africa, and within the wine industry, limited access to quality education remains a driver of poverty and inequality. When children do not receive strong early learning foundations, the long-term social and economic consequences are significant.
At Vinimark, we believe that investing in early childhood development (ECD) is one of the most meaningful ways to help build a better future for our communities. Quality early learning environments give children the opportunity to reach their full potential and improve their chances of completing formal schooling.
To support this, we partner with Grow ECD, a social enterprise that equips and connects preschool owners and teachers with the skills, tools and resources they need to deliver quality education while running sustainable small businesses.
Through this partnership, preschool operators receive structured training and mentoring in areas such as financial management, compliance with South African legislation, and registration readiness. Over a three-year support cycle, centres are equipped to strengthen both the quality of education they provide and the financial and operational resilience of their schools.

Over the past two years, we have sponsored three ECD centres:
- Simni Educare, Kayamandi, Stellenbosch (since October 2023) - 40 active learners
- Umthombo Wemfundo Educare, Stellenbosch (since June 2024) - 68 active learners
- Stellenbosch Kindergarten, Cloetesville (since August 2024) - 47 active learners
Through the Grow ECD Small Business Accelerator Programme, we are already seeing the positive impact of in-person teacher mentoring, play-based learning and structured resource kits.
All three centres have shown strong progress across key developmental areas, strengthening the educational foundation for the children they serve.

Looking ahead, we aim to deepen this impact by supporting additional centres, and we are in the early stages of forming relationships with two rural communities in partnership with Kinderland.
Investing in early childhood development is not only about education. It is about strengthening communities and creating opportunities for the next generation.
