Backsberg extends its much-loved Braai with Backsberg experience at its picturesque Franschhoek tasting room, inviting guests to savour the flavours and rhythms of a South African summer.

Held every Saturday, this relaxed outdoor gathering celebrates the essence of local living – flame-grilled fare, award-winning wines and long, lingering afternoons set against a dramatic winelands backdrop. Guests are welcomed from 12h30 with a complimentary glass of Backsberg wine, setting the tone for the afternoon, before mains are served from 13h30, followed by dessert of the day.

Flame-grilled braai favourites are served fresh from the fire, accompanied by a buffet-style salad bar of seasonal garden greens. Priced at R350 per person, the experience also includes thoughtful vegetarian and vegan options available with prior notice, ensuring every guest feels at home at the table.

Designed for golden afternoons and effortless alfresco dining, Braai with Backsberg captures the warmth, generosity and convivial spirit synonymous with true South African hospitality. It offers a relaxed alternative within Franschhoek’s celebrated culinary scene – abundant without pretence, refined yet rooted in tradition.
