On International Zinfandel Day 2025, Blaauwklippen raised the curtain on its new House of Zin Zinfandel Rosé. With a refreshed look and feel, this launch marks the beginning of a new era for the farm.
The rosé, with its elegant rose gold hue and notes of Turkish delight and nectarines, is the perfect companion for a relaxed summer’s day. The new label tells the story of Blaauwklippen, placing strong emphasis on the farm’s enduring slogan, Then. Now. Forever., interpreted through a distinctive typographic lens.
The House of Zin stands boldly on the front of the label, with ZIN taking center stage. The name is divided into three typographic eras. The “Z” represents the THEN, drawing from letterforms of earlier times that evoke vintage storybooks. The “I” reflects the NOW, inspired by the shape of a glass hourglass through which the wine can be seen, expressed in contemporary typography. The “N” looks to the future, embodying the FOREVER through a more futuristic approach. A single horizontal line runs across the label, acting as a golden thread that connects past, present, and future.
Blaauwklippen took another step towards renewal with the new packaging of its Zinfandel Cap Classique. Moving away from the black foil capsule and rose gold foiling to a refined gold finish, the farm continues to surprise.
While the exterior may suggest a Blanc de Blancs, the true surprise lies within: a 100% Zinfandel Cap Classique with a striking light pink colour. This unexpected contrast perfectly captures the farm’s ever-surprising character, challenging the senses and delighting in the unexpected.
As the pioneer of Zinfandel in South Africa, Blaauwklippen continues to craft this cultivar to perfection with every vintage. Winemaker Narina Cloete reflects with pride: “Zinfandel has been given to us by those who came before us on this farm, and it is our duty and honour to keep the tradition alive for the generations to come.”
