Established in 1694, Rust en Vrede forms part of Stellenbosch’s rich agricultural heritage. Wine has been made on this land for centuries, but the modern chapter began in the 1970s under Jean Engelbrecht’s parents, Jannie and Ellen. Their vision marked a turning point for the estate, grounding it in thoughtful, purposeful winemaking while respecting the farm’s long history.
Focus
At Rust en Vrede, focus is a deliberate choice. The farm is dedicated solely to Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah — the varieties that thrive best on this site.
