Brookdale Estate has achieved an outstanding performance in the Platter’s by Diners Club South African Wine Guide this year, with top honours across both its flagship Brookdale range and its Mason Road lifestyle range.
In what is considered a remarkable achievement for a young wine estate, Brookdale secured a 5-star rating for the Bradbourne White Estate Blend (2024 vintage), as well as 4.5-star ratings for each of the three other wines in the Brookdale range: 2023 Old Vine Chenin Blanc; 2024 Twenty Field Blend; and 2024 Sixteen Field Blend.
The Paarl estate’s Mason Road lifestyle range also impressed judges, with three wines receiving 4 stars, showcasing exceptional quality at accessible price points for the 2024 Syrah; 2024 GSM; and 2025 Chenin Blanc.
For an estate still young in its evolution, the Platter achievements underscore Brookdale’s ascent as a producer of distinction in the South African wine landscape. The consistent acclaim across both premium and lifestyle tiers both nationally and internationally reflects a winemaking philosophy grounded in authenticity, innovation, and a deep respect for terroir.
At the forefront of this year’s recognition, Brookdale’s 2024 Bradbourne White Estate Blend scored its second 5-star accolade in consecutive years. Crafted with precision and restraint, the Bradbourne continues to affirm its reputation as a benchmark white blend of the region. The 2024 vintage offers expressive aromatics of stone fruit, white pear and gentle floral notes, supported by layers of citrus zest and subtle spice. On the palate, it shows remarkable texture and tension, harmonising richness with a clean, mineral-driven finish.
Tim Rudd, the owner of Brookdale Estate says that this year’s Platter’s scores highlight the estate’s commitment to producing distinctive wines of character and longevity. “We are thrilled with the results which recognise our quest to craft elegant, refined and expressive wines that are unmistakably rooted in place. With a dynamic young winemaking team at the helm, we will continue to build on our success with precision winemaking and sustainable vineyard practices, exploring lesser-known wine varietals and intriguing blends, and a dedication to field blend experimentation.”
