Early learning in action
The past few months have been dynamic and hands-on for Pebbles Project's Early Care and Education Programme.
Our dedicated practitioners and trainers have provided strong on-site support across all geographical regions, helping to upskill and empower 77 Practitioners working with 687 children in our care.
Currently 34 practitioners are undergoing formal training to aquire NQF qualifications, and many others have completed their training and are now newly certified. The programme is steadily moving toward with our goal of having every practitioner fully qualified by year-end.
A major highlight was the successful completion of the Lego Six Bricks training across all regions. A fun, hands-on tool to boost early learning with every practitioner now proudly certified.

Pebbles Academy: At the heart of learning and care
It has been a active and fulfilling term at the Pebbles Academy!
During September, the school focused on the theme of perseverance, encouraging learners to stick with their goals and finish strong, a value they truly embraced.
We are proud to report excellent academic progress, with teachers up to date on the curriculum and learners achieving steady growth across all grades, and learner school attendance reached an impressive 97%.
The term also brought exciting moments beyond the classroom from a lively flashmob performance at the Whale Coast Mall in Hermanus to our much loved school revue, where learners wowed the audience with their talent and energy.
The Hemel-en-Aarde farming community's response was overwhelmingly positive, with parents expressing deep appreciation for the joy and confidence these events bring to their children.
With athletics season on the horizon and the final term upon us, our learners and staff are stepping into the last part of the year with great momentum and enthusiasm!

Pebbles launches entrepreneurial pods
On 18 August, we proudly launched our Entrepreneurial Pods. An exciting step forward in empowering our youth with real-world skills and hands-on work experience.
Thanks to the generous support of Paul and Jolanda and the Stichting Garcia Foundation, we have opened three dynamic new pods:
- Clouds Hospitality Pod: A fully functioning coffee shop where young people gain barista training and customer service experience.
- Garcia Fashion Pod: A thrift store and creative space for young entrepreneurs.
- IT Hub: A space dedicated to refurbishing and recycling tech, giving young adults the chance to develop essential digital skills.
We invite the public to stop by, enjoy a cup of coffee, and browse the thrift store all while supporting the next generation of change-makers.
Agripreneurship programme in partnership with SA Agri Academy
Exciting news from the Pebbles Youth Development Programme is that we have officially launched the Agripreneurship Programme in partnership with the SA Agri Academy earlier this month.
A group of 13 motivated young participants have joined the programme to gain hands-on skills and knowledge in both agriculture and entrepreneurship. This initiative is a powerful step towards empowering youth and opening doors to exciting opportunities in the agricultural sector.
Watch this space as we grow the next generation of agripreneurs!

Compassion in action
Our social work team continues to provide essential support to children, caregivers, and young adults across our programmes. Working closely with the Pebbles practitioners, they address a wide range of needs, from emotional challenges and family dynamics, to school-related issues like bullying.
Support takes many forms, including counselling, home visits, caregiver guidance, and group sessions with younger learners.
Whether in-person or through digital channels, the team remains a steady, compassionate presence in the Pebbles communities.
"Pebbles is always there to help me, they really care about people. They help you get to where you dream to be." - Perchwin, a social work service beneficiary (2024)

In the spotlight: Kulsum Moosa
This quarter, we're shining the spotlight on Kulsum Moosa, our wonderful HR manager and a valued member of the Pebbles Project senior management team.
Kulsum is not only a dedicated professional but also a proud mother to a beautiful baby girl. After spending some time away from the organisation, we were thrilled to welcome her back, and it feels like she never left.
Known for her effortless sense of humour, constant smile, and infectious laugh, Kulsum brings warmth and positivity wherever she goes. Whether she's navigating the challenges of HR or sharing a light- hearted moment in the office, she does it all with heart and humour.

London Landmarks Half Marathon
We are thrilled to announce that Pebbles Project has secured entries for both the London Marathon and London Landmarks Half Marathon, both taking place in April 2026.
Starting in Greenwich/Blackheath and finishing in front of Buckingham Palace, the world-renowned London Landmarks Half Marathon is part of the prestigious Abbott World Marathon Majors.
The route is largely flat and fast, with just 246 feet of elevation gain, making it perfect for both seasoned runners and first-timers. You'll pass iconic landmarks including Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Canary Wharf, and the London Eye, an unforgettable way to experience the heart of London.
By running in support of the Pebbles Project, you're doing more than just crossing a finish line. Every step supports access to education, nutrition, for our beneficiaries.
To find out more or secure your spot for either of the races, please contact Mignon at mignon@pebblesproject.co.za.
