Van Loveren
Van Loveren has spaces where every age group can come together. Explore their offerings and find what sparks your interest!

At Van Loveren, we’re all about creating unforgettable family experiences on our wine farm! We’ve put in the effort to craft spaces and events where every age group can come together, make lasting memories and soak up the fresh country air. Explore our offerings below and find what sparks your interest!

1. Wine tasting and kids pairing

While you’re savouring our Shades of Chardonnay tasting or indulging in our Van Loveren Cheese and Wine tasting, the kids can colour, snack and soak up the fun alongside you. Your little adventurers can enjoy a playful grape juice and treat pairing while exploring our beautiful gardens, spotting koi fish, and climbing around our jungle gym.

Our grape juice experience is 100% alcohol-free and designed just for kids – a fun, flavourful way to keep them happy and engaged during your visit. Because fresh air, freedom, and a little bit of sweetness make for the best kind of memories!

2. Exploring the Van Loveren gardens

Our expansive gardens provide plenty of space and interesting escapes for children to explore and play imaginative games. Oupa Hennie and Ouma Jean, the founders of Van Loveren Family Vineyards were dedicated gardeners and planted many trees to commemorate special family and historical moments.

We offer guided garden tours with a complimentary glass of bubbly, or you can opt for a self-guided tour if you’d prefer a more leisurely pace with the little ones. While you’re here, the kids can have fun discovering our giant chess board, climbing on the vintage tractor or watching the Koi fish swim in the pond at our entrance.

3. Hiking and bird watching

If your children aren’t so little anymore, and you’re searching for a family activity everyone can enjoy, the Fish Eagle Hiking Trail is just the thing. This 7.5km trail offers stunning views of unique flora and fauna you won’t find anywhere else. At a relaxed pace, the hike takes about 3 hours.

For birdwatchers, this trail is paradise – you could spot more than 100 bird species that call our farm home. Look out for rare sightings like the Lanner Falcon and the Peregrine Falcon, known to reach astonishing speeds of over 300 km/h! You might also hear the distinctive call of the majestic African Fish Eagle or catch a glimpse of the powerful Black Eagle soaring overhead. And don’t miss the beauty of the Paradise Flycatcher, a true gem of the trail.

Buy your hiking permit online for R70 pp or email us at info@vanloveren.co.za, lace up your hiking shoes, and don’t forget your water and sunblock!

4. Christina's Bistro

After a morning of hiking or birdwatching, you can unwind with the family at our child-friendly restaurant, Christina's Bistro. Known for its delicious wood-fired pizzas and gourmet burgers, Christina’s also offers a simple kids’ menu featuring favourites like chicken strips or fish fingers to make them feel right at home! Open daily for breakfast and lunch.
