Muratie
As the winter chill slowly sets in, Muratie Wine Estate is busy making the tasting room and restaurant ever cosier.

The ancient oak trees are shedding their leaves on the Muratie werf, and as the winter chill slowly sets in, we are busy making the tasting room and restaurant ever cosier, creating inviting spaces for visitors with soul-warming gifts, food, and wine. In the cellar, post-harvest activities like racking and blending are in full swing, and we are looking forward to an exciting line-up of events in the coming months.

Don't forget to visit us for an invigorating hike, run or ride on our Simonsberg Trails this month. The veld and forest are in spectacular shape and the routes offer something for every fitness level. Get your permit at the Dirtopia Trail Centre on our premises or visit dirtopia.co.za for more information and upcoming events. Naturally, the best place to wind down and refill after your workout is on Muratie's shady terrace with a fine cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Look out for Muratie Farm Kitchen's new winter menu, full of nourishing, nostalgic seasonal favourites and delicious new dishes.

Upcoming events at Muratie

Subsequent dinners are scheduled for 25 July and 29 August.

Celebrate Father's Day on 15 June with a special lunch at our Farm Kitchen, perfect for honouring the dads in your life. On 21 June, enjoy an afternoon of jazz and blues as the KJBB Band performs live in our historic cellar.

Muratie’s much-loved Retro Rouge Winter Wine Festival returns on 28 June, inviting guests to indulge in a curated selection of our award-winning wines. From robust reds to rich Cape Port-style and dessert wines, this celebration of winter flavours is set against the homely backdrop of our historic estate. Enjoy live music, hearty dishes from the Muratie Farm Kitchen, and the warm hospitality that defines the Muratie experience. Don’t miss this annual highlight – perfect for wine lovers seeking comfort and character in every glass.

Wine and art

Wine and art are a treasured legacy at Muratie. The two great passions of our former custodian, the renowned artist GP Canitz, were said to have been Pinot Noir and painting. We see wine and art as inextricably linked, with our terroir as canvas providing never-ending inspiration.

With Muratie celebrating 340 years of history in 2025, we have decided to use the original house of Laurens Campher and Ansela van de Caab to exhibit the works of local artists. Come and visit our new-look Legacy Gallery and browse through the works on view. Respected local artist Anita Folscher assembled the current collection, and all the works on display are for sale.

As we commemorate 340 years of winemaking heritage in 2025, Muratie is proud to announce the upcoming release of a special new wine. Stay tuned for more details, this is a celebration you won't want to miss.

Wishing you a marvellous month of May!
