Spoegwolf, Oesfees 2024
Music unites us all in emotion and motivates us to be truly human! That’s according to singer, writer and cultural icon Koos Kombuis, one of the many artists performing at this year’s Solms-Delta Oesfees. “I often ask myself if there is one thing that can bring South Africans from different backgrounds together and I get the same answer every time- it has to be music!”
And music there will be..! Well-known artists as well as young, up-and-coming musicians, will provide all-day entertainment on Saturday, 29 March when the Solms-Delta Wine Estate once again opens its lawns under the old oak trees to festival-goers.
“As the new stewards of the estate, we are committed to preserving and expanding this festival while it continues to uplift, inspire and connect”, says Crystal Broussard-Hall of Solms-Delta Wine Company.
Prof. Mark Solms of Solms-Delta has thrown his full weight behind this vision and also agrees with Koos Kombuis that music along with good food and wine, has always been the glue that binds people. “It unites us and with last year’s revival of the Oesfees we were reminded of the gratitude, joy, and sense of togetherness that these elements bring. And speaking of food: festival-goers can look forward to delicious, authentic Cape cuisine – from curry and rice, samoosas and roosterkoek to Cape Malay koesisters and milk tart!”
Koos Kombuis says he loves the variety that the Oesfees offers. “There’s a bit of everything, and I get the feeling that I’m playing for an audience that is diverse and exciting!”
This Year’s Oesfees artists
According to Prof. Solms, that diversity is exactly what makes the Oesfees so special. “We are continuing the tradition this year with a strong line-up of artists from across different genres, bringing their infectious energy, passion and unique sounds to the festival – both established names and the stars of tomorrow.”
Mrs. Broussard-Hall adds: “The Solms-Delta Oesfees is our promise to honour the past, celebrate the present and shape a future where culture and community flourish together”.
Tickets cost R200 per person and are available at Solmsdelta.com and Plankton.mobi. Children under twelve, accompanied by their parents, get free entry. Gates open at 10:00 am.
