Stellenzicht harvest update
Stellenzicht Vineyards is 75% through the 2025 harvest, and things are looking promising. So far, we’ve harvested Chardonnay for our Cap Classique, Acheulean, and Thunderstone ranges as well as Cinsault for our Silcrete Cinsault. Our Shiraz grapes for Thunderstone Rosé are already showing a beautiful blush.
With 186 tons in the cellar and 65 more to go, we're now watching closely as our remaining Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz blocks reach their optimal ripeness.
Our head winemaker, L'ré Hughes, shares: "I’ve spent more time than usual in the vineyards this year, tasting and sampling to ensure we pick at the right moment. This has meant harvesting smaller sections from blocks over several days, as they don’t always ripen evenly. The overall quality across all varieties is looking great. With no intense heatwaves, moderate to warm days, and mostly cool nights, the grapes have had plenty of hang time in the vineyard, resulting in beautiful flavours. That said, the season has had its challenges, with some blocks ripening faster than expected."
This season has required patience, precision, and many decisions, but the results are already clear. Based on the quality of the grapes, Stellenzicht’s 2025 vintage is shaping up to be truly remarkable, all in pursuit of balance.
