After a decade at Bergzicht in Stellenbosch Central, the Pinotage Youth Development Academy (PYDA) is thrilled to announce its relocation to a new campus at the Sustainability Institute in Lynedoch, approximately 10 kilometres from Stellenbosch Central. Effective 1 November 2024, this move marks an exciting new chapter for PYDA as it continues its mission to advance the personal and professional development of unemployed youth in South Africa.
Since its founding in 2012, PYDA has evolved an innovative model of personal development combined with industry-specific vocational training. While its previous location, Bergzicht, was an ideal home during the Academy's early years, the need for additional space grew along with PYDA’s expanding student body and programme offerings.
The Sustainability Institute (SI) aligns perfectly with PYDA’s commitment to having a nurturing and versatile campus. SI is home to several values-aligned education and community development organisations, fostering a vibrant and collaborative environment where organisations can add value to each other’s work.
This unique setting not only meets PYDA’s immediate need for classroom and office space but also offers a host of additional facilities, including shared classrooms, meeting rooms, a spacious hall, and beautiful gardens that create a retreat-like atmosphere, conducive to learning and personal growth.
