Groote Post
Groote Post is celebrating a major achievement at the 2024 Veritas Awards, South Africa's leading wine competition.

Groote Post's The Inheritance Pinot Noir was awarded a prestigious Double Gold medal, the only Pinot Noir to receive this recognition. Additionally, Groote Post’s Seasalter Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot earned Gold medals, cementing the winery’s reputation for crafting top-tier wines that exemplify the unique terroir of the Darling region.

The Inheritance Pinot Noir is a limited release of just 1700 bottles and marks the first time in a decade that Groote Post has released a Pinot Noir, now part of their Inheritance range. The Double Gold win highlights the significance of this special release.

Lukas Wentzel, Groote Post’s winemaker, expressed his excitement about the award: “The Inheritance Pinot Noir has been a passion project for us, and releasing it after a decade was a significant moment. To have it recognised with a Double Gold, and as the only Pinot Noir to achieve this, is an incredible honour. This wine truly captures the heart of Groote Post’s terroir—elegant, complex, and refined. We always believed in its potential, and this award reaffirms that belief. We’re thrilled to see it celebrated on such a prestigious stage.”

Wentzel also spoke about the Seasalter Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot, which both secured Gold medals: “These awards are a reflection of the dedication we put into every bottle. The Seasalter Sauvignon Blanc is known for its minerality and coastal influence, while our Merlot consistently delivers depth and balance.”

With the limited quantity of The Inheritance Pinot Noir, wine enthusiasts are encouraged to secure their bottles quickly. Groote Post’s award-winning Seasalter Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot are also available through the farm’s online store and select retailers.
