The modern era of South African wine, which has been underway for the last three decades or so, has seen some extraordinary quality gains but who’s going to ensure that we continue to move forward?

The aim of the Next Generation Awards sponsored by FedEx Express and convened by Winemag.co.za is to identify South Africa's emerging winemaking talent – entrants may not be over 30 years of age at the time of the awards ceremony on 23 April.

All wine categories are permissible and the Top 10 participants will be announced at the awards, the best overall set to receive a prize of R10,000 from the sponsor.

Wines will be tasted blind by a three-person panel with Winemag editor Christian Eedes as chairman as well as Spencer Fondaumiere, chairman of the South African Sommelier Association, and wine writer Malu Lambert.

Entries close on Wednesday, 3 April and view our Competition Rules online
