As the year winds down, the local wine industry hosted a fabulous lineup of celebrations. Here are some of the events we've attended lately.

PYDA Wine Practitioner Graduation 2023 - Adele and Jeanine

The Pinotage Youth Development Academy (PYDA)'s Wine Practitioner Programme class of 2023 had their graduation on Friday 3 November 2023 at Van der Stel Hall in Stellenbosch. 48 Young people graduated with their diplomas that open the doors of the wine industry to them. Attending this graduation is one of wine.co.za's annual highlights!

 

Quoin Rock Birthday Celebration - Jeanine

On Wednesday 15 November, as the sun set over the magnificent landscape of the Knorhoek Valley, Quoin Rock hosted esteemed guests for their Birthday Celebration. It was an evening filled with enchanting wines, delectable food, and live entertainment. Together with the owners, winemaker, farm managers and team, this celebration was an exclusive unveiling of the newest chapter at Quoin Rock.

 

Sauvignon Blanc Tasting at Diemersdal Wine Estate - Jeanine

Thys Louw hosted a Sauvigon Blanc tasting at Diemersdal in the Durbanville Wine Valley on Thursday 23 November. We tasted Sauvignon Blanc wines from Diemersdal's own extensive range, plus two Sauvignon Blancs from France and one from Austria. After the tasting, lunch was served. We enjoyed a sumptuous seafood feast of perlemoen, galjoen, and Cape salmon prepared by the Louws.

 

Accountant's Blend 2021 launch at Arra Vineyards - Jeanine and Mihle

Arra Vineyards officially released the 2021 vintage of their Accountant's Blend on Thursday evening, 30 November 2023. As the name suggests, this wine was made by their accountant, Coenie van Schalkwyk. It is a red SMV blend, containing Shiraz, Mouvedre, and Viognier.

 

A new culinary journey: Paul Clüver Family Wines' newly launched tapas menu - Trudie

Foodies, we have good news! Paul Clüver Family Wines, in the Elgin Wine Valley, just launched a new Tapas menu. Definitely worth a visit this summer. Visiting the estate, we kicked off a sunny afternoon at the restaurant with a glass of Chardonnay, of course, and the most delicious homemade country bread with whipped butter and tapenade. The Tapas menu is full of fresh, flavourful food with bursts of colour, featuring locally sourced ingredients like famous Elgin free range chicken and farm-raised beef.
