It is with great sadness we share that Julian Richfield, a prominent wine and lifestyle writer, has peacefully passed away this morning (Thursday 2 November 2023) after a short battle with cancer.
"My dear and much loved friend Julian Richfield died this morning after a mercifully short battle with cancer," wrote Michael Olivier on Facebook. "You will be missed, Julian. What fun we have had over the last years. My love to Rosalie and daughter Clare."
Julian studied at Wits University in the 1960s. He worked as a journalist, PR and communications consultant, and a book reviewer.
He moved to Cape Town in 1991, which is where he discovered his love of wine. He has visited over 210 wineries in the Cape Winelands.
