We're thrilled to unveil our newest wine virtuoso, Luke Erickson.

Luke Erickson, hailing from the renowned La Colombe Restaurant in Cape Town, has conquered South African Sommeliers Association (SASA)'s arduous SASA Sommelier exam on the 22 May 2023 and emerged victorious!

Join us in raising a glass to Luke as he joins an elite league of certified sommeliers. But that's not all! With SASA's invaluable support, Luke has now set sail for the breathtaking shores of the Caribbean, landing a prestigious role as the Resort Sommelier for Turks and Caicos!

In this exciting new chapter of his sommelier career, Luke will take charge of managing the resort's extensive wine program, overseeing not one, not two, but FOUR remarkable restaurants and a fabulous retail shop! His responsibilities include curating impeccable wine selections, training an exceptional team on all things wine-related, and even mastering the art of upselling the perfect bottle.

Let's shower Luke with good luck and raise a toast to his remarkable journey ahead! Here's to many unforgettable moments, breathtaking sunsets, and endless cheers in his new role.

Luke Erickson's sommelier journey commenced at Cellars-Hohenort Hotel, where he had the privilege of working under the esteemed Miguel Chan from 2005 to 2007. Those early years sparked his unwavering passion for the realm of wine, setting him on a remarkable path. 

Following this pivotal experience, Luke embarked on an exhilarating chapter at Belthazar V&A, where he had the privilege of learning from industry luminaries such as Johnathan Styen, James Peterson, and Andre Lourens from 2008 to 2017. The invaluable knowledge and profound experiences he gained during that time molded him into the exceptional sommelier he is today.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a spirit of adventure, Luke ventured across the enchanting landscapes of Europe, refining his craft at renowned establishments like Klein Constantia and Grande Provence. These transformative experiences broadened his perspective and deepened his appreciation for the rich tapestry of wines from around the world.

In 2019, Luke discovered his true vinous sanctuary at La Colombe, where he continues to pour his heart and soul into the art of wine. The remarkable team and the breathtaking ambiance have propelled his sommelier journey to new heights, enabling him to embark on captivating explorations and share the marvels of wine with the cherished guests.
