This month will see the completion of the 2023 harvest for us at Haute Cabrière, after a whirlwind of activity across our vineyards with the warm weather and rain spurts.
The buzz activity in the cellar will continue for many weeks to come as we tease out this year's characteristics for our wines.
Speaking of character, we are elated to share that the next vintage of Haute Collection wines has been released from our cellar and they are once again available to add to your personal collection. A range of limited-release, second-generation legacy wines, each tells a story and has a distinct personality.
With the previous vintage having sold out some months ago, we are thrilled that the 2021 vintage is now ready to be shared. Stop by our cellar in Franschhoek to explore the range, or discover more through our online cellar.
The Haute Collection
Haute Cabrière was built on a pioneering spirit and a passion for innovation. It is no surprise that second-generation Cellar Master, Takuan von Arnim, continues to expand upon this ethos that father and founder, Achim von Arnim, began.
The Haute Collection, a range of site-specific wines in a creative playground which experiments with techniques, was launched in 2019. Takuan von Arnim (director of wine), alongside Tim Hoek (cellarmaster), founded the range on the idea that each vintage will stand alone as an exceptional showcase of terroir, creativity and spirit.

The wines are collector’s pieces with innovation year upon year. These are wines made for wine lovers, visionaries and innovators – people who break the mould and people who enjoy a great tale behind the bottle.
The 2021 Haute Collection
- Amphora Chardonnay 2021: This single-block wine made from vineyards planted in 1983 was fermented and matured in 450 L clay amphorae for 12 months. Enjoy tropical fruit with hints of lime and citrus, followed by great palate weight and a firm acidity.
- Amphora Semillon 2021: This single-block wine, made from vineyards planted in 1990’s, was fermented and matured in 450 litre clay amphorae. Enjoy a textured mid-palate with well-balanced acidity and zesty notes. This wine will evolve with aging. Only 480 bottles released.
- Chardonnay 2021: Clay amphorae were used in addition to French oak barrels for this single-block wine. Enjoy subtle oak characters with notes of citrus, followed by subtle notes of honey and butterscotch.
- Pinot Noir 2021: A selection of single-block vineyards were used to create this wine. This wine was matured for 12 months in French Oak barrels. Expect characters of plums and red cherries, followed by subtle earthy notes. Can be matured for 5-8 years.
