Compagniesdrift honours mentors with the launch of Albertus - Judy
There are two very special people at Meerlust who have played a significant role to the team at Compagniesdrift since its inception 12 years ago. The Albertus is a very limited edition late-harvest style delicious sweetie, beautifully packaged, and honours the two mentors, Albertus Nicolaas de Waal (aka Albie) and Johann Albert Reinecke Myburgh (aka Hannes) who have been instrumental to the growth and development of Compagniesdrift and its people.
Diemersfontein's Italian Evening launching The Clockmaker Old Vine Chenin Blanc - Judy
Stories are a great part of the wine world, and history is of course the source of many of these stories. Diemersfontein recently launched their Clockmaker wine, a delicious Old Vine Chenin Blanc. This was no ordinary launch, as the wine and its heritage are inextricably linked to the Zanardi family in Bolzano, Italy. The lovely and intimate event took place at Diemersfontein Wine Estate in Wellington on 11 November 2022.
Launch of Tokara's new vintages at Ellerman House - Judy
The first media event of the year is usually a celebration of new things, and this year's launch of Tokara's new vintages on Wednesday 18 January was no different. What was different was having the launch not at the farm, but at the most gorgeous Ellerman House, situated high above the Atlantic Ocean in Bakoven, Cape Town. Stuart Botha is well settled into his role as winemaker now and confidently spoke about the wines and the 2022 vintage as being one of the best with serious concentration.
Survivor Wines Cellar Master Series launch at the CellarClub Tunnel - Jeanine
Survivor Wines recently launched its brand new Cellar Master Series, consisting of a Chardonnay and the Pendulum, a red blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. I was privileged to be invited to the media launch of this new range on 25 January. The event was hosted at the CellarClub Tunnel at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town. Divided into groups, cellarmaster Pierre Wahl led intimate, interesting wine tastings of the two wines in the Cellar Master Series as well as the latest vintages of other noteworthy Survivor wines.
Launch of Beyerskloof Eerste Ry Cabernet Sauvignon & Kriekbult Pinotage - Erica
I was invited to attend an intimate lunch at Beyerskloof Estate (Stellenbosch) to celebrate the launch of their Kriekbult Pinotage & Eerste Ry Cabernet Sauvignon maiden vintages. The launch took place on 26 January. We tasted the two new wines followed by a mouth-watering lunch.
