Have you ever thought about how a bottle is made and how much water/energy goes into its production?

Well, Bouchard Finlayson took this question to heart and have implemented a lighter-weight glass bottle. What does all this mean?

Since moving to a lighter-weight bottle, Bouchard Finlayson is able to save 6,4 tons of glass per annum. Their packaging and wine labels are FSC certified. FSC means Forest Stewardship Council, and is an international non-profit organisation founded in 1993 with a mission to create responsible forestry.

Lightweight bottles result in 20% less energy used during manufacturing, a 12% drop in water usage per container and a savings of almost 20,000 tons of glass packaging per year, all adding up to cost savings as well. Reduced-weight bottles cut manufacturing and winery carbon footprints and transportation expenses.

Bouchard Finlayson believe in reducing their environmental footprint and are focusing on the goals below to combat pressing environmental issues:

  • Achieve carbon neutrality by 2030
  • Source 50% of our electricity from renewable sources by 2025
  • Increase use of local & organic food products by our supply chain by 2025
  • Reduce printed brochures by 50% by 2025
  • Eliminate as many unnecessary single use plastics by 2022
  • Increase employee and market sentiment regarding diversity and inclusion across our brands
  • Complete 30,000 volunteer hours by 2025
