Goodbye 2022
As the year is drawing to a close, we like to reflect on this crazy busy year.
A couple of highlights for the year that we're proud of are the opening of our new Skill Centre in Stellenbosch, CapeWine 2022 and the connections made, launching our thrift store at CoCreate Hub in Stellenbosch, and more. Pebbles also turned 18 years old. What a milestone.
168 ECD learners will be graduating from the Pebbles ECD centres at the end of 2022 and will be joining the Pebbles After-School Clubs in January 2023. All these learners also received Pebbles School Packs complete with age-appropriate stationery and a water bottle. Thank you to all our supporters who sponsored school packs, Vinimark and Casidra.
Hemel-en-Aarde news
It has been a busy few months at the Hemel- en-Aarde Education Project.
In October we hosted an Open Day which was attended by parents, staff, farm representatives and donors. The project also hosted a camp for Generation School Imhoff. 4 teachers and 20 students were in attendance. The camp provided learners with intentional time away for service, outreach and community strengthening.
Röhlig-Grindrod Logistics visited the facility giving a few of the outdoor areas some TLC. The group built and painted sandpits, swings, mud kitchens and additional seating areas. The children are so happy with their new spaces. Lastly, thanks to Haygrove Heaven, every child at the facility received a Santa Shoebox for Christmas.
Legacy Awards
On 30 November, Pebbles hosted a Legacy Awards Ceremony. We currently have four Legacy and Character Awards that are handed out annually. The Jo Clifton Award is for the most improved ECD learner, the Eugene Isaacs Award is for leadership in the after-school clubs, the Hans Hessler Award is for the top academic performer and finally the Andrew Fredericks Award is awarded to a learner who shows integrity, leadership, confidence and kindness to their peers.
The ceremony was attended Pebbles staff, trustees, beneficiaries and their parents.
This annual ceremony gives us an opportunity to celebrate learners who have stood out during the year. Their teachers and parents were so proud.
We would like to thank the legacy donors and families for being involved and handing out the awards as well as to Joostenberg Deli for the refreshments and venue and Villiera Wines for the wine and bubbles.
Our brand new thrift store
In October we launched our first-ever clothing thrift store at the CoCreate Hub in Stellenbosch. The purpose of Cocreate Hub is to offer retail spaces for local
entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations.
All clothing items range between R50-R200. The CoCreate Hub is located at 7 Victoria Street in Stellenbosch and is open Monday to Friday from 08h00 - 16h30.

Wines2Whales success
For the past several years Pebbles has received charity entries for the Wines2Whales MTB race. This year was no different. We somehow managed to convince Peter, treasurer on our board, to take part for the second year in a row. Peter is pictured above with Mike who is a long-time supporter from the UK. Pebbles is an official charity partner of Wines2Whales and all proceeds raised from our charity entries went to the Hemel-en-Aarde Education Project.
R50 000 was raised thanks to all our energetic riders!
Two Oceans Half Marathon 2023
Pebbles has Two Oceans Half Marathon charity entries for the 2023 race which is taking place on 16 April 2023. The race is currently at capacity and entries can now only be obtained through charities.
An entry is R1 500 and this includes your entry fee and a donation to Pebbles Project.
