Durbanville Wine Valley Cap Classique Day Celebration - Jeanine

On Cap Classique Day (1 September 2022), Durbanville Wine Valley held a lavish Cap Classique Day Celebration at Klein Roosboom, Durbanville. Bubbly-icon Heidi Duminy presented an excellent introduction to the Cap Classique Academy's Cap Classique First Star Course. We also tasted 11 Cap Classiques from the Durbanville Wine Valley. Afterwards, we were all surprised with Cap Classique First Star Course certificates, Heidi deeming us worthy after running through the outline of the course with us. What an honour!

Pebbles Project Open Day at Villiera - Adele, Erica, Frank & Judy

Pebbles Project has been operating for 18 years now, since 2004. They currently employ 100 dedicated staff members across the Western Cape, making a huge difference in more than 1 600 children's lives. Their open day, held on Friday 9 September at Villiera Wines was abuzz with people coming to see all their mobile facilities: A library, toy library, and wellness centres. Plus, they also had the opportunity to see the brand-new clinic and skills centre, which Pebbles Project has just put up on Villiera farm near their offices.

Robertson Winery celebrated a big milestone – their 80th birthday – with a floral-inspired high tea at the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town on Spring Day (1 September), with everyone dressed up in their florals. Robertson Winery's newly rebranded natural sweet and light wines were paired with delicious tea-time treats like finger sandwiches, meringues, mini cakes, scones, and more.

At a gathering of wine lovers and media on Friday 16 September at Haute Cabrière in the Franschhoek Wine Valley, we celebrated the wine estate's new chapter. Haute Cabrière launched the all-new Haute Cabrière Chardonnay Réserve 2021. The maiden 2021 vintage of the Haute Cabrière Réserve Chardonnay marks an exciting addition to their reserve wine collection.

The last weekend of October, on the Saturday, Jeanine explored Vergelegen Wine Estate's beautiful gardens, lawns, and creative spaces at the Vergelegen Garden Weekend 2022. The Vergelegen team and local creatives entertained guests with a tree walk, a tour of the Octagonal Garden, a light lunch at Café Fleur, wine tasting, and more.

Launch of Spier's Good Natured organic wine range - Nicola

"The launch of Spier's Good Natured Organic Wines on the evening of Tuesday 18 October was remarkable to say the least," says Nicola (Winelands Explore). "We were submersed into nature and surrounded by scented fynbos and vineyards, with naked bulbs overhead, amazing food, gentle music, and of course excellent wine that is proudly organic and vegan-friendly."

Spier is a WWF Conservation Champion, and they have done amazing work since first organically certified in 2015. They believe that regenerative viticulture can create vibrant, flavour-filled wines and their Good Natured Range is exactly that.

Tasting Morgenster's all-new Guilio Range - Jeanine

Following on from their recent brand relaunch, Morgenster Estate has just launched their stunning The Giulio Range. I was lucky enough to attend the launch of this range on Thursday 17 November, where we tasted each of the five wines in the range. Winemaker Yolande van Staden presented the wine tasting on the tasting room's outdoor deck, overlooking the amazing views of the dam with Helderberg Mountain beyond it.

Year-end family picnic at Spier - wine.co.za team

The wine.co.za team and their families gathered for a year-end picnic at Spier Wine Farm on Sunday 27 November. The picnic was also a farewell party for Memory who is leaving us for her home country, Zimbabwe, after six years at wine.co.za. We relaxed with a few bottles of Spier wine while the kids played at the Spier Elemental Play Garden.
