Vergenoegd Löw
Vergenoegd Löw’s famous Indian Runner ducks are still here on the estate!

During the week they wander through all the vineyards keeping snails and insects in check here at Vergenoegd Löw The Wine Estate. This way we do not have to use harmful pesticides.

Over weekends, they take it a little easier. On Saturdays and Sundays you could meet them any time between 8h00 and 10h00 or between 11h00 and 13h00 as they wander across the Manor House grounds.

The best way to see them is to book breakfast, lunch, or a picnic at Geuwels Restaurant; lunch at Clara’s Barn; or a wine tasting.

We have hundreds of these ducks. They are the soldiers protecting our vineyards. We also provide ducklings to other wine farms who want to follow our example of sustainable farming.

"I call our ducks the soldiers of our vineyards," said managing director Corius Visser. "They will eat aphids, they will eat snails, they will eat small worms—they keep (it) completely pest-free."

We hope you enjoy your breakfast, lunch, or wine tasting and meeting with our Vineyard Soldiers!
