On 24 September, join us in inviting friends round, lighting the fire, and sharing some great South African wines – and #tastesunshine!

South Africa celebrates Heritage Day on 24 September, and wine.co.za invites you to celebrate our heritage of South African wine. Wine has been made in South Africa since 1659, and as such it's definitely part of our heritage:

"Jan van Riebeeck, the first governor of the Cape, planted a vineyard in 1655, and on 2 February 1659, the first wine was made from Cape grapes," writes WoSA. "This led to the planting of vines on a larger scale at Roschheuvel, known today as Bishopscourt, Wynberg. Van Riebeeck strongly encouraged farmers to plant vineyards."

And what better way is there to celebrate the rich heritage of South African wine than by sharing the sunshine in our wine?

wine.co.za is encouraging every South African winery, South African embassy, South African business, and every South African around the globe to show the world just how lekker our wine is.

It is really simple: Just open up a bottle of South African wine, share it with your family or friends, and post photos of your day on social media tagging #tastesunshine.

We initiated our #tastesunshine campaign in 2017 and it saw wine lovers across the world enjoying South African wines: From the USA to Portugal to England to South Africa. To look back at the memories with us, click HERE to view the photo album.

Plenty of wine lovers enjoyed the day and shared their #tastesunshine pics with us:
