Participants in this year’s competition are now encouraged to enter via the new online platform developed last year in collaboration with CTP/SA Litho. This facilitates a so much easier and faster submission of information for the Veritas competition. The closing date is 12 August, while late entries will be accepted until 26 August at an increased fee.
Veritas Awards prides itself in being the oldest wine show for bottled wines, while still providing the foremost guideline to quality wines and brandies for 32years – from 1991 –to the wine consumer, restaurants, hotels and the wine trade. The importance of this from a marketing point of view has been proven over decades, not only locally but also in the international market.
The competition’s recent successful wine tasting in London, of the Vertex winners and a variety of Double Gold wines and brandies, bears testimony to the competition’s high esteem world-wide. Winemakers, Brandy distillers and marketers are encouraged to present their wines for judging and to utilise the results thereof as a yardstick of quality for the rest of the year.
For many years already, Veritas enjoys the status as the country’s most authoritative competition of its kind. Participants use the results and accompanying bottle stickers as an excellent marketing opportunity. Since last year, the Double Gold and Gold stickers also convey the score out of 100 awarded to the particular wines and brandies.
The Vertex Award – now known as the Duimpie Bayly Vertex Award for the wine crowned as the top Veritas entry – was introduced in 2017. Veritas is the only wine competition presented by the industry, for the industry.
The judging takes place on 12 -16 September 2022 in the Johann Graue Hall at Nederburg in Paarl. In line with the practice over years, specialist judges are appointed to ensure that only the best expertise is employed to name the winners.
The awards function is scheduled for 8 October 2022, shortly after the mammoth Cape Wine exhibition to be held in Cape Town. Arrangements are also well on their way for the wine and brandy tastings again to be held in collaboration with the Veritas financial partner, Deloitte. The tastings were suspended during the Covid pandemic.
