Pebbles Project
Thanks to support from our local and international supporters, we at Pebbles Project are able to continue changing the lives of children in the Winelands.

As we reach the halfway mark of the year, we at Pebbles Project are taking a moment to reflect on all that we have to be grateful for. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."

Local and international visits at Pebbles Project

We are so happy to have local and international group visits and interns back at our offices. We hosted a number of visits during April, May, and June. Thank you for visiting Pebbles and coming to see our programmes in action.

Representatives from the following companies visited us:

We also welcomed Roy, a 6th-year medical student from Maastricht University in The Netherlands. Roy is our first international intern in 2 years and he will be based at our clinic in Stellenbosch for the next 3 months.

2022 Pebbles ambassadors

18 Learners were selected by their peers to represent their farms as the Pebbles Ambassadors for 2022. They have been selected as they are leaders at their respective After School Clubs and show respect and understanding to their peers and educators.

The ambassadors attended a leadership camp in April and we are so proud of this group of young adults.

A special Easter thank you

Thanks to our generous supporters and donors, all our learners had a very special Easter. We were blown away by the support received for the Easter egg drive. We hosted Easter egg hunts at all our ECD and After School Club centres and the children had an absolute blast. Special thank you to COFCO International, Delaire Graff Estate, Hillebrand, Curro Century City, Lighthouse2Lighthouse Ladies, Bosman Hermanus, and all the individuals who made this possible.

Pebbles Academy

During the month of April, a parent's evening took place where parents had the opportunity to vote for a school parent forum.

Teachers, parents, learners, and all support staff had a school clean-up over the weekend where they painted, varnished, and did a general clean-up of the facilities.

All learners wore green during National Child Protection Week (29 May- 5 June 2022). The importance of Child Protection Week and other various topics were discussed with the learners during lessons and assembly.

Pebbles Project good news stories: Fiona discovers her passion

The Pebbles Project School Enrichment Programme provides support to children aged 6 to 18 years through homework support and life skills. Learners are also presented with the opportunity to engage in extra-curricular activities that they would otherwise not have access to. Pebbles partners with Surf4Life NPO to offer weekly surf lessons to a group of beneficiaries. “I never had the opportunity to surf before I attended the Pebbles After School Club on my farm. I’ve been surfing for 6 years now and I absolutely love it!” said Fiona. Fiona is optimistic about her future; she dreams of studying Sport Management at Boland College. Pebbles Project and Surf4Life will support Fiona in obtaining her SSA Coaching Certificate to help turn Fiona’s dream into a reality.
