Oldenburg Vineyards
When 67 Pall Mall TV approached Oldenburg Vineyards about filming a Harvest documentary, we were delighted and jumped at the opportunity.

With my son Max directing, I knew his intimate knowledge of the farm would help create a gem.

Max set himself the task to show how our Harvest is the confluence of a Place, its People, Science and Art. I may be biased, but I believe he has succeeded in his mission with real style.

Vanessa and I watched the video whilst enjoying the recently released 2019 Rondekop Stone Axe Syrah. We ran several matinee screenings for our team, screening the Harvest documentary and giving the real Harvest heroes from the vineyards and the cellar a chance to see themselves in action – popcorn included!

I recommend 67 Pall Mall TV’s Harvest at Oldenburg Vineyards to you and suggest you settle in somewhere comfortable, and enjoy it with a glass or two of something from Rondekop to make it even better (if that is even possible).

Documentary: Harvest at Oldenburg Vineyards

The centrepiece of Oldenburg’s breathtakingly beautiful estate just outside Stellenbosch is the intriguing hill, Rondekop, which stands proud amongst the vines. While it may not match the scale or renown of Hermitage Hill in the Rhône Valley, it’s no less precious to the Oldenburg team who we join here, access-all-areas, as the harvest approaches its zenith.

Serendipitously, it’s the Syrah that’s being gathered as we learn the tale of 2022 as seen through the eyes of not only winemaker Nic van Aarde, but everyone from owner Adrian Vanderspuy through to the pickers and cellar hands. This is an illuminating glimpse of the graft and endeavour which lies behind contemporary fine wine.
