Org de Rac
As far as this year’s harvest goes, the grapes are ripening quickly as the hot summer kicks-in, and we plan to get picking by the 18th of February.

Our winemaker, Lizelle Gerber, is anticipating a top-quality harvest at Org de Rac.

“The Cape summer experienced good rain during 2021, and not only in winter – spring and early summer also saw some showers,” she says.

“The cooler growing conditions saw bud-break, flowering and berry-set happening a bit later than usual, allowing for even growth which will hopefully be carried through into grapes with a good chemical composition needed to make quality wine.”

The first grapes picked is Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for Cap Classique, as this style of wine requires high, fresh acidity.

After that, one will see a hive of activity as the pickers head into the vineyards with their secateurs, and the heady aroma of fermenting grapes will hang over Org de Rac in the green heart of the Swartland.
