Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards
The essence of Michelangelo has always been the prestige and significance brought to the competition by its international judging panel, made up of wine and spirits experts sourced from other international wine and spirits competitions around the globe.

“But as we all know, during 2020 and 2021 this was very difficult - if not impossible - due to severe Covid regulations and lockdowns imposed by governments all over the world,” says Michelangelo International Wine and Spirit Awards founder and organiser, Lorraine Immelman.

“However, this year marks a global move to near-normality, so we are determined to assemble a heavy-weight international panel of judges for this year’s competition! We realize that it is more important than ever for our local wine and spirits producers to display credible medal and trophy stickers on their products, such as those awarded by Michelangelo’s judging panels “

To date 22 wine and spirits specialists from 16 countries have been confirmed for the 2022 competition, including spirits specialists Arthur Naegele from Switerland and Andy Dixon from the UK, and wine judges Per Karlsson from Sweden, Andrej Ondrejmiska from Slovakia and Canadian champagne and sparkling wine specialist, Liz Palmer.

This year’s Michelangelo has been brought forward by a few weeks, with 2022 dates as follows:

  • on-line entries open on Monday, 2 May 2022
  • entries close on Friday, 1 July 2022
  • Entry fees will remain R1150,00 (&VAT) per entry.
