And just like that we are more than halfway into the first month of 2022! The past 2 years have been super tough for us all, but especially if you enjoy a glass of wine with friends and family. Therefore, we have decided to dedicate this year to being together again.

Our theme for 2022 will be TOGETHERNESS-CELEBRATIONS - CREATING NEW STORIES and everything that we will be doing this year will be around this theme, of course in a responsible and safe manner as we still have the dreaded Covid-19 around us.

We have some awesome celebrations and events coming your way throughout 2022, but decided for January and February, we will be focusing on our STORIES and create new STORIES as we move through the year.

We will share all our beautiful tales during this period and encourage you to also share your memories of our wines with us.
Hopefully in celebration, while enjoying special times together with your loved ones.

Meet our Food Wizard, Chef Zenobia

From pastry chef, to creating her magic in fine dining establishments, Zenobia knows her moves around the kitchen and the delicious food she's been churning out of ours is a testimony to exactly that.

Zenobia, a native of Paarl started cooking at De Oude Paarl 20 years ago. It's with great fondness that she tells you: 'I actually started my career as a pastry chef.' She was called up as a trainee at the restaurant, but 3 days later the pastry chef decided not to come back and she was literally thrown into the deep...batter. 'After many flopped cheesecakes, I mastered the art of pastry,' Zenobia exclaims.

Part of her remarkable journey, is that she worked for Season's restaurant at Diemersfontein 10 years ago as the sous chef, but wanted to know more and decided to travel the country in search for more food knowledge.
Her wandering ways took her to the majestic Wilderness and even Johannesburg, before she decided to come back home and took up various positions in Paarl, Wellington and Franchhoek.

Today she is back with us at Diemersfontein and look forward to share her food and knowledge with all of you.
When asked what's her favourite food, I was blown away with the answer!
'Although I prefer cooking fine dining to any other cuisine, the humble tin of baked beans remain my favourite food.'

Not only have we recently released our brand new food offering at PROE, but we also introduced 2 fun and exciting new wine and food pairing experiences.

LOCAL CHEESE AND WINE PAIRING:
You get the opportunity to pair 4 different cheeses, in this case a Marisch, Boerenkaas, Camembert and Brie with 4 of our award-winning Diemersfontein wines. Expertly curated and presented by our delightful wine advisors.
 
SALMON AND CHARCUTERIE PAIRING:
You will kick off this pairing with slivers of Salmon Trout, perfectly paired with the fruity flavours of our Diemersfontein Chenin Blanc. This will be followed with a tasting of 3 different kinds of charcuterie while sipping on 3 perfectly matched Diemersfontein red wines.
