Wine Business Solutions (WBS) has just completed its 9th annual ‘Taking the Direct Route’ report which benchmarks South African wine businesses’ direct sales against those of Australian, New Zealand and US wineries.

The 9th annual ‘Taking the Direct Route’ report indicated that total DtC sales for participating South African wine businesses were up 17% on 2020.

WBS Principal, Peter McAtamney commented that “This is an incredible result given all that South African wine producers have had to deal with during the last 12 month. Not only did SA wineries report strong growth in direct sales, but they also participated in the survey in record numbers as well. We are therefore both pleased with the amount of data collected and delighted for the wineries themselves. No one has had it tougher and, as always, the fighting spirit of South Africans is truly inspirational.

We are also very thankful to WOSA, Vinpro and, of course, wine.co.za who helped promote the survey”
