Tomorrow, Saturday 2nd of October a team led by 2021 National co-champion Chris Groenewald will be fighting for the world crown in Avignon, France. The contest will be hosted in the Palais des Papes, the papal residence built in the 13th Century.
The World Blind Wine Tasting Challenge, started in 2013, is organised by the Revue du Vin de France. This year 27 countries will participate, and South Africa will challenge the French defending world champion.
Supported by WINE.CO.ZA and the Sommeliers Academy, TeamSA 2021 is composed of vaccinated SAWTC finalists who could fund their own travel for this highlight of the wine industry around the world.
Benthe Legg , Dr Gavin Smith and Warren Kemm are joining Chris Groenewald and Pieter de Waal who are already in France on a wine sourcing trip.
