Government’s legal counsel requested a short postponement of Vinpro's interdict application this week.

With reference to Vinpro’s urgent interdict application which was provisionally set to be heard at the Cape High Court on Friday 2 July 2021, Government’s legal counsel approached Vinpro’s legal counsel, requesting a short postponement with the tight timelines provided.

This would enable the National Government respondents to file their answering affidavits over the upcoming weekend, followed by Vinpro’s reply as applicant.

“We have agreement from all parties involved that the matter is extremely urgent and we now await confirmation from the judge of a final date in next week when the case will be heard,” says Vinpro MD Rico Basson.

Vinpro submitted its interdict application on Tuesday, 29 June 2021 at the Cape High Court after a national ban on liquor sales was reinstated from 28 June 2021.
