The competition is in its 7th year, and has witnessed the rapid growth of the South African rosé wine category. In recent years there has been a huge improvement in quality of this versatile and widely enjoyed style of wine.
This year sees the launch of The Allan Mullins Award, which will recognise the highest scoring rosé wine in the competition. The award is in memory of Allan, an icon in the South African wine industry, and is sponsored by Woolworths, where Allan worked as their Wine Selector for many years.
Joining the judging team as Panel Chair is the award winning winemaker and ‘First Lady’ of South African wine, Norma Ratcliffe.
Ratcliffe will lead the experienced and talented team of Kelly-Marie Jacobs - Zonnebloem white-wine maker; Praisy Dlamini - General Manager at Adama Wines; Chiara Fabietti - wine maker and AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge judge and Franschhoek based sommelier, Munashe Kwaramba.
