Veritas has pleasure to announce that Joe Wadsack, senior international judge at Veritas for many years, will be hosting a South African Brandy tasting with internationally known bartender Dean Callan on Wednesday evening 27 January 2021 on the YouTube channel.

It will be a live broadcast and will feature four Veritas Double Gold award brandies from the 2020 Veritas competition. The brandies are the KWV 10 and 15 year old Pot still brandies and the Van Ryn 10 and 12 year old Pot still brandies.

It will be broadcast live on The Dean Callan Show YouTube Channel at 20:00 South African time. The link is:  https:/youtu.be/OgJZCcd41Gg

Due to Covid -19 the annual tasting of Veritas Double Gold award wines and brandies could not take place in London last year. Instead Joe Wadsack will present four Zoom tastings this year with selected wines and brandies, and the brandy tasting tonight is the first of these live broadcasts.

Dean has been a bartender, global ambassador for 42 Below, Bacardi and Brand Founder for Monkey Shoulder Whisky amongst many other things. There is virtually no-one in the entire bar industry across the globe who doesn’t know who he is, and is a personal friend of most of the founding fathers of the modern bar industry, such as Dale DeGroff. The Dean Callan Show Channel is relatively new, although it is one of the few regularly watched live shows that PRE-DATEs the corona pandemic, having been created over two years ago.

Joe studied and made wine in Bordeaux, attaining a winemaking diploma in 1991. Soon afterwards he joined Waitrose where he worked as a wine buyer for five years. His TV career started in 2001and he became a regular on TV Shows such as Great Food Live, Saturday Kitchen, Ladette to Lady and Richard and Judy - where he co-authored their hugely successful Richard and Judy Wine Guide. Joe has most recently followed in Oz Clarke's footsteps as the co-presenter of award winning TV show BBC Food & Drink with the ebullient two Michelin star-chef, Tom Kerridge, and is the new wine expert on This Morning on ITV1 with wine enthusiast Phil Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

Joe was voted Personality of the Year in 2015 at the International Wine Challenge Awards, a special lifetime achievement award given only once.

Joe is also, to date, the only person ever to receive The IWSC Communicator of the Year Award TWICE in 2005 and 2016.
