Strandveld Vineyards is a small winery situated in the Elim wine ward near Africa’s southernmost tip at Cape Agulhas. At Strandveld, we believe that South Africa is a country with great potential and that education is one of the key areas which need to be addressed to realise our potential and to build a brighter future for our people.
This is why, in 2017, we began the Strandveld Vineyards’ Little Friends project.
In March 2017, 20 Grade 4 learners from our local primary school, Elim Primêr, hand-harvested and foot-stomped grapes from one of our best Syrah vineyards under the guidance of Conrad Vlok, our cellarmaster. The juice was treated with exceptional care in the cellar and the result is a single 300l barrel of truly great Syrah. The wine has just been bottled and we have 66 six bottle cases available for sale. It is a rare opportunity to own a wine that is both scarce and individualistic while at the same time supporting a vital initiative.
Sales of this special wine will go part of the way towards reaching our goal of raising R100 000 for Elim Primêr but to achieve the target we really need your help. By making an online donation you can help us reach the target. Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated, click this link to donate www.backabuddy.co.za/little-friends. Donations from overseas are also possible.
The funds raised from this project will be used to fund an additional teacher for the school as well as to make much needed upgrades to the buildings and facilities and, even more importantly, to give these young people a better sense of their worth by showing them how their efforts have borne fruit that make their daily lives better.
