Backsberg
The Backsberg tasting room and restaurant remain open. The safety of our staff and customers is our number one priority, and as such we are assessing the situation on a daily basis. Please keep an eye on our social media channels for the latest updates.

The following measures have been put in place by Backsberg, and our tourism partners:

General Tasting Room and Restaurant Operations

*Hand sanitiser dispensers have been placed at all entrances. Guests are to please sanitise their hands on arrival and departure.
*Our staff will be avoiding physical contact. No handshakes unfortunately!
*Staff will be requesting that payments are made by credit card, and not cash. We’ll also be wiping down the credit card machine regularly.
*Mandatory handwashing protocols: all staff will be sanitising and washing their hands on an hourly basis as well as on arrival at the estate and before heading home for the evening.
*Frequent sanitising of all surfaces: this includes kitchen countertops, door handles, and café tables.
*Restaurant reservations: daily total bookings will be limited to 80 PAX within the restaurant, and tables will be set out spaciously on the terrace.

Franschhoek Wine Tram

Unfortunately both the purple and orange lines, of which Backsberg is a part, will be out of service for at least two weeks. More information will be made available as soon as possible.

City Sightseeing Bus Service

The City Sightseeing Bus Service will ensure their guests make it to our door and back again in the safest way possible, with increased hygiene practices . Please refer to their website directly for additional information.

Online wine sales

*The online retail space will become your new best friend and we encourage this method of purchase in the weeks to come.
*As such, we will be offering free delivery on all wine orders placed over the next four weeks.
*Simply include ‘Enjoyathome’ in the promotional code space prior to checkout.
*We may even be implementing online wine tastings from the comfort of your home soon too. Zoom wine dates anyone?

More news to follow shortly. In the meantime #WashYourHands!

Yours in wine,
Team Backsberg
